Massage, Bodywork, and Energy Healing

Massage and bodywork services are temporarily unavailable due to COVID-19. Please check back for updates.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy encourages relaxation, relieves sore muscles, encourages flexibility and range of motion, increases circulation and oxygenation, and decreases stress hormones. Your massage will be tailored to meet your specific needs, and may combine Swedish techniques with deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, acupressure, myofascial release, and/or lymphatic drainage, depending on your goals and preferences.

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese form of energy healing. Translated as "universal life energy," Reiki works holistically with the body, mind, and spirit to balance the energy field, release blockages, and promote peace and relaxation. Research has shown that Reiki therapy decreases stress levels, aids in the treatment of insomnia, anxiety, and depression, helps relieve pain, and increases the body's natural immune response. In a Reiki treatment, the client is fully clothed and the practitioner uses a light touch or places hands just above the body.

Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Massage (ATMAT)

ATMAT are specialized massage techniques that are used to heal and balance the body by increasing the circulation of blood, vital energy, and lymph. The techniques were developed by Dr. Rosita Arvigo who studied with native Maya shamans and midwives. ATMAT is best known for its success in assisting with female reproductive health, fertility, and improving digestion. It works by applying gentle non-invasive external techniques to the back, sacrum, and abdomen.  Susannah brings over 15 years experience as an Advanced Certified ATMAT practitioner. Tui Na

Tui Na is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine perfected over the last 2000 years. It works with vital energy pathways and acupressure points, bringing harmony and balance to all of the body's systems. One of Tui Na’s advantages is its ability to focus on specific problems, especially chronic pain. It’s effective in treating joint pain, sciatica, muscle spasms, stiff neck, distention of shoulders, and sore back. It can also relieve chronic disorders such as insomnia, constipation, headaches/migraines, IBS, and premenstrual syndrome. Tui Na not only works on the muscles, bones, and joints, but it also works with the energy of the body at a deeper level. As with other styles of Asian bodywork, Tui Na is designed to prevent problems, not just correct them. By keeping the body’s energy in balance, health is maintained. This is true for physical health as well as mental and emotional well-being.

Sound Therapy

Many cultures have used the power of sound to heal for centuries. In the purest sense, it moves us from a place of imbalance to a place of balance. Sound therapy can help us reduce stress, experience a greater sense of well-being and promote healing. It creates deep relaxation, calms our nervous system, balances both hemispheres of our brain, and returns our body’s vibrations to their natural state. Sound can also be used to gently release physical and emotional pain. Good for both our mind and body, it has been shown to reduce anxiety, shift depression, enhance mental clarity, lower blood pressure, improve circulation, stabilize heart rate, reduce pain, shorten recovery periods, improve sleep, and better regulate the limbic system which improves our body’s self-regulation and resilience to stress. The effects of sound therapy are deep and far reaching as it fine tunes the entire body into a state of balance while also facilitating an expansion of our awareness and creative potential. Its ability to increase intuition, creativity and motivation makes it a wonderful tool for supporting positive change in your life.

Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy is an extremely gentle, non-invasive, and effective form of bodywork. It calms the nervous system and normalizes the body's response to stress. CST also works to release restrictions in the muscle, fascia, and skeletal layers to restore optimal function and ease of movement. CST is beneficial for everyone, but because it is so gentle, CST is an especially effective form of bodywork for babies. CST can help infants release the effects of bodily and emotional stress from difficult births, restricted range of movement in utero, and generalized tension. It can be very helpful for babies who are experiencing tongue tie or other difficulties breastfeeding. CST also effectively addresses discomforts that arise from the dramatic changes occurring during pregnancy, childbirth, and the first year postpartum (and beyond).
