Erica Reschly, PhD, LISW
I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker and have my PhD in Human Nutrition. I work with adults in individual and group therapy settings. My specialties include the treatment of binge eating disorder, bulimia, chronic pain, depression, and anxiety utilizing mind-body psychotherapy. Throughout my MSW and PhD programs I focused on disordered eating and have a deep knowledge of the multitude of complex issues that contribute to it.
Mind-body psychotherapy recognizes that healing requires treating both the physical and mental aspects of the whole person. I use traditional ‘talk therapy’ to address the mental component of healing. Two approaches I practice are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and EMDR. ACT is type of talk therapy that incorporates mindfulness and behavioral strategies to help clients be present, release suffering, and focus on values/goals. EMDR is a therapeutic technique that helps dampen the fight/flight response and helps clients become more calm, clear, and conscious. To address the physical component of healing, I integrate nutrition/nutritional supplements/herbs, yoga, meditation, and breath work into the treatment. I am a certified yoga teacher, I teach mindfulness based meditation and breathing exercises, and I have been trained in Ayurvedic Nutrition. As a therapist, I 'practice what I preach.' In my personal life, I regularly practice yoga, meditation, and breathing exercises – I began this healing journey over 20 years ago. I nourish my soul by spending time with family and friends, swimming, dancing, bird-watching, gardening, and cooking. |
