Erika Lauer, MD
Erika Lauer is an Integrative Psychiatrist. She takes a comprehensive, multisystem approach to the evaluation and treatment of mental health concerns. She strives to honor the dignity and power of every person she works with and believes that deep listening is the seat of true healing. She also believes that the body and brain are interconnected and that the health of one depends on the other. In her practice she utilizes a detailed medical and psychiatric history, laboratory testing and evaluation of lifestyle factors to construct an individual healing plan. Healing plans often incorporate vitamin and mineral supplements, botanicals and herbs, lifestyle modifications and meditation practices. She specializes in the treatment of anxiety and depression, mental health concerns during pregnancy and postpartum, the treatment of mental health concerns in the context of chronic medical illness, and the treatment of mental health concerns without the use of conventional psychiatric medications. She sees people ages 10 years and up.
She completed her medical school training at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and residencies in Psychiatry and Family Medicine at the University of Iowa Hospitals and clinics. She is board certified in Psychiatry and Family Medicine. She is also board certified in Integrative and Holistic Medicine through the American Board of Integrative and Holistic Medicine.
